The inventor of the Tailgate Party Mate, Corky Bless, created it in order to provide more flat surfaces while tailgating. Last baseball season, his grill and other items were taking up too much room on the folded down tailgate of his truck. There was no room for his wife to prepare the other foods. He came up with the basic design and started welding in his shop at home. After a few prototypes, the Tailgate Party Mate is now in commercial production.
